Othello was an incredible movie! Both Lya de Putti and Emil Jannings were amazing! The great cast includes Lya de Putti, Emil Jannings, Werner Krauss, Friedrich Khne. If you love watching Lya de Putti or Emil Jannings, you are deffinetly going to want to watch Othello.
Rather than a literal adaptation of Shakespeare's tragedy, the film is more of a dark psychological thriller in the German tradition. Cavernous chambers and stony battlements cast shadows of impending doom upon Othello (Emil Jannings) and Desdemona as the Mephistophelean Iago dances about them, methodically destroying thieir happiness and steering them toward their bitter fate with impish delight. An ambitious silent version of Shakespeare's tragedy by Russian expatriate Dimitri Buchowetzki. Four silent Shakespearean shorts: Duel Scene from Macbeth (1905), The Taming of the Shrew (1908), Romeo Turns Bandit (1910) and Desdemona (1911); Essay by Douglas Brode.
House of Cards Trilogy, Vol. 2 - To Play the King - Internet Movie Rental - What is the Craze About
Wow! I really loved the movie House of Cards Trilogy, Vol. 2 - To Play the King. The movie is absolutely stunning with top-notch graphics and visuals while Ian Richardson deliver some award-winning performances in this movie. I also think Michael Kitchen was great! The visuals and graphics make for some very realistic on screen special-effects but that is the beauty of the movie. When the movie wants to be funny it is funny, the same is true for when the movie needs to deliver its scary aspects.
I think Ian Richardson and Michael Kitchen worked wonderful in House of Cards Trilogy, Vol. 2 - To Play the King. The great supporting cast includes Ian Richardson, Michael Kitchen, Kitty Aldridge, Colin Jeavons, Diane Fletcher.
